How it all began
6th century B.C.
The history of the town of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi begins in the 6th century B.C., or 2,500 years ago. The town’s symbol is an ancient fortress that has survived to this day. The ancient name of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi is Akkerman – the name that Akkerman Distillery proudly bears. Since time out of mind, Akkerman has been renowned for its vineyards that produce grapes with unique organoleptic properties, ideal for crafting perfect wine.
2019
Akkerman Distillery enterprise was established in 2013. Today, it is one of the flagship winemaking enterprises in Ukraine producing wines and brandies. It was fully upgraded and modernized in 2019. The distillery boasts state-of-the-art equipment by leading European manufacturers: Arol, Bertolaso Group, and Borelli Group. It is situated in a winemaking region with a pristine ecology that is one of Europe’s most ancient wine terroirs.
